Serving military personnel and veterans will be able to travel to Remembrance Day events by train for free.

Chiltern Railways is offering free services along with the rest of the rail industry.

Michael Stewart, commercial and customer strategy director at Chiltern Railways, said: "We are proud to offer free rail travel for military personnel and veterans who wish to pay tribute on Saturday and Sunday.

"Helping with travel for military personnel and veterans this weekend is vitally important so that the armed forces community can pay their respects more easily."

For those travelling into London for the Services of Remembrance, free travel on Chiltern Railways services to London Marylebone will be available on either Saturday, November 9, or Sunday, November 10.

However, free return travel from London or anywhere else in the country will only be available on Sunday.

The offer is available to serving military personnel in uniform or in possession of a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued identity card

Veterans will need to show a Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, MOD-issued Veterans ID or other appropriate proof of service.

Chiltern Railways is also holding three separate Remembrance services at London Marylebone, Birmingham Moor Street, and Leamington Spa stations.

The London and Birmingham services will take place at 10.30am and 10.50am respectively on Friday, November 8, while the Leamington Spa service will be held at 2pm on Monday, November 11.
