An Abingdon car park is set to close for around 20 weeks to allow for an archaeological survey and improvement work.
Cattle Market car park will shut to vehicles and pedestrians from Monday, November 11, for a preliminary survey ahead of the planned improvement work.
The closure is expected to last around 20 weeks, covering both the survey and the improvement works.
A Vale of White Horse District Council spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience during the temporary closure.
"Those wishing to park in the town are advised to use alternative car parks at the Civic car park, Abbey Close car park, Rye Farm car park, or the Charter multi-storey car park."
The planned improvements aim to make the car park easier to use.
The will include changes to the layout, resurfacing to fix potholes, and upgrades to lighting.
A rain garden will also be installed to manage rainwater and prevent drain overflow during heavy rain.
The rain garden will collect water that runs off the car park, filtering it through plants and soil before it enters the water table.
This process not only prevents pooling and drains from overflowing, but also produces cleaner water and boosts biodiversity within the car park.
The project is being delivered by Vale of White Horse District Council in partnership with Thames Water.
