Artists have the chance to see their work take centre stage at a new housing development in Botley and win a £3,000 cash prize.

The Kimmeridge, set to open in the new year, is collaborating with community arts group Creative Debuts to support emerging artists and highlight local talent.

Artists of all abilities and genres from the Oxford area are invited to submit their work for the commissioning project.

The selected piece will be displayed prominently within the new development, and the artist will receive a £3,000 cash prize.

Creative Debuts, a platform that helps emerging artists navigate the art industry, is working with Grainger, the UK's largest listed residential landlord, to make the call for submissions.

The commissioned artwork should symbolise the local area, hold significance for the artist, and explore the city of Oxford and the emotions it evokes.

Grainger will commission the chosen artwork, covering the cost of supplies, and it will be installed within the amenity space of the new build-to-rent development.

This will allow the selected artist to showcase their work to hundreds of residents and visitors.

The artwork will be selected by a panel including Fiona McDonald, head of onboarding at Grainger, and Calum Hall, founder of Creative Debuts.

An unveiling event will take place in February to reveal the chosen artwork.

Ms McDonald said: "The Kimmeridge is our first-ever development in Oxford and brings a brand-new way of renting to the local area.

"We wanted to try something new with the artwork, to really celebrate the city within our new development, whilst providing a platform for a local artist.

"We put the community at the heart of everything we do at Grainger and the launch of our exciting arts collaboration is no exception.

"Working closely with Creative Debuts and their talent pool we hope to support talented aspiring artists. We can’t wait to see the amazing submissions."

Mr Hall added: "Partnering with Grainger and The Kimmeridge on this new exciting project is a fantastic opportunity for local aspiring artists to showcase their work.

"Our aim is to champion emerging artists and help them navigate the trials of the art world.

"Opportunities and call outs like this are so important for artists to showcase their work to new audiences, acting as a springboard for their future careers as well as supporting them financially.

"We’d encourage all local artists to submit as it’s such a fantastic opportunity to have your work in a brilliant building that’s all about celebrating the local community."
