The founder of an Oxfordshire paddleboarding school has picked up awards in two categories at the Best Businesswomen Awards.

Moi Blackledge, founder and advanced coach of Moi's SUP School, won Silver Awards for Best Customer Service and Best Solopreneur.

The awards, which aim to recognise the best female business talent across the UK, were presented at a gala evening at the Hilton Syon Park in London last month.

Moi's SUP School, which was launched in 2021, has grown to become Oxfordshire's leading paddleboarding school.

It employs "age-appropriate, empathetic" instructors, and says every lesson is "taken at the customers own pace and comfort".

The school believes paddleboarding can be beneficial to mental health as well as physical wellbeing, so has been a "constant, committed partner and supporter" of mental health charity Oxfordshire Mind.

Ms Blackledge said: "I am absolutely thrilled for the business to be recognised as delivering the best possible customer service and experience, as this is our core belief and driver.

"In an industry where female paddleboard instructors and business owners are the minority, the additional recognition of being awarded 'Best Solopreneur' is extremely gratifying."

The Best Businesswomen Awards are open to any female business owners and aim to recognise the achievement of female-owned businesses and charities across a wide range of business categories.

Debbie Gilbert, the organiser of the Best Businesswomen Awards, said: "This is the 10th year of the awards, and we have recognised over 1,000 women since we launched in 2015 across a huge range of industry sectors.

"The selection process is rigorous, and to be one of our winners is a major achievement.

"The judges make their selections based on business expertise, innovation, and high levels of customer care.

"Our winners are shining examples of outstanding entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges and have shown they have the results worthy of being recognised and rewarded."

Moi's SUP School has developed the UK's only indoor swimming pool clinics during the winter months in partnership with Better Leisure Centres across Oxfordshire.

These clinics, which run in Carterton, Chipping Norton, Didcot, and Thame from November, provide an opportunity for both experienced and new paddlers to hone their safety 'self-rescue' skills in preparation for outdoor paddleboarding.

The clinics have regularly attracted guests from both inside and outside the county, with some coming from as far as Norfolk and Essex.
