A dining experience inspired by Fawlty Towers is set to return to Oxford this winter.

The "immersive" dining event based on the British sitcom will be hosted by Iffley-based hotel Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House.

Having first entertained diners this summer, guests on November 30 will be treated to a two-hour show featuring characters including Basil, Sybil, and Manuel, alongside a festive three-course meal.

The evening will be inspired by the beloved TV show that aired in the late 1970s and centred on the adventures of Basil Fawlty, played by John Cleese, and his fellow characters as they navigated life in a chaotic hotel.

Each performance is largely improvised, aiming to offer a unique experience for fans of the sitcom each time.

Isabela Dumbrava, director of sales and marketing at Hawkwell House Hotel, said: "We’re proud to be hosting this critically acclaimed tribute once again.

"At the last performance, our guests had an absolutely fantastic time, laughing over the antics while also enjoying their delicious meal.

"The television show is a piece of cultural history being given new life by these brilliant immersive experiences and we’re thrilled to be bringing it back to Oxford this winter.

"This event will run for one night only and tickets are selling fast, so we recommend booking now to avoid disappointment."

Tickets are priced at £75 and doors will open at 6.45pm, with the event beginning at 7.30pm.
