The 10 best places to live in Oxfordshire have been revealed by travel site Muddy Stilettos.

Looking at 300 different places across the UK, they came up with a comprehensive list looking at towns and villages with the best schools and pubs.

Naturally, Oxfordshire had a promising showing.

The travel site said: "Planning a move? Discover the top 300 places to live in 2025 with Muddy’s insider intel on the loveliest city spots, towns and villages, with the best schools, shopping and pubs near you."

Muddy Stilettos said of Oxfordshire: "From dreaming spires to Cotswolds villages, bluebell forests to foodie havens, Oxfordshire straddles rural idyll and city sophistication like no other county."

The best places to live in Oxfordshire:

Burford

Dubbed ‘the gateway to the Cotswolds’ this buzzing town on the Oxon/Glos border by the River Windrush ticks all the boxes for the Cotswolds idyll.

Charlbury

Nestled in the pretty Evenlode valley on the edge of the Cotswolds, this honey-tinged town benefits from its own train station as well as punching well above its weight on the festival scene.

Deddington

With streets lined with dark honey-coloured stone architecture this small, attractive town has impressive eat out options and community spirit.

Goring

Rolling hills, picturesque river banks, plus you’re only an hour from the Big Smoke by train – this pretty village offers the best of both.

Henley

A stunner of a riverside town with excellent restaurants and shops Henley is hard to beat (although you’ll be paying for it).

Kingham

If you’re looking for a village that has it all, look no further than Kingham with its buzzy social scene, top schools and Cotswolds charm.

Whitchurch-on-Thames

An Oxfordshire gem. Whitchurch on Thames is an under-the-radar riverside village, surrounded by great schools, cosy pubs and a whizzy London commute. What’s not to love?

Witney

The West Oxon market town has a lot going on from wine and music fests to farmers markets and fun fairs. Property prices are lower than Oxford too.

Wolvercote

The riverside village north of Oxford has its own vibe with pubs, sports clubs and walking on the doorstep but all within a 10-minute bus ride or cycle into Oxford.

Woodstock

Woodstock has everything you’d want from a Cotswolds market town – honey stone architecture, excellent gastro-pubs and independent shops – oh yeah, and a palace.
