A yellow cold health alert has been issued for the Oxford area.

The alert, issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), means that forecast weather is likely to cause significant impacts across health and social care services.

In the south west region, the alert is in place until 6pm on November 23.

The UKSHA said: “Forecast weather is likely to have minor impacts on health and social care services, including: increased use of healthcare services by vulnerable people and greater risk to life of vulnerable people.”

The agency added: “All organisations should read the Adverse Weather and Health Plan. This is important if you provide health and social care.

"The plan explains what you should do before and while a cold health alert is in place.
