A homeowner confronted a burglar at his home in Abingdon as police have now turned to the public for help with the investigation.  

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following the break-in at a house in Spring Road at 3.50pm on Friday.

Thames Valley Police South Oxon and Vale of White Horse released a statement on Monday afternoon asking for information.

This stated: "A male offender has gained access to a property and once inside has searched the property.

"The occupant has confronted the offender who has then fled.

"If you have any CCTV or Ring Doorbell footage or relevant information, you can get in touch by calling 101 quoting the reference number 43240553684."

It is not known if anything was stolen.
