Ahead of an Oxford resident's 100th birthday in early December, the care home where she lives is looking to collect 100 cards.
Carers at Green Gates Care Home are asking for 100 birthday cards for Helen Jones, who will celebrate the milestone on December 3.
Ms Jones said: "My father lived to be 101, so we must have good family genes. I’m looking forward to celebrating with my friends and family."
The home will host a tea party for her and has arranged a telegram from the King to mark the occasion.
Sharon Lamb, home manager of Green Gates, said: "We are very much looking forward to Helen’s 100th birthday celebrations.
"We hope that our local community will send as many cards as possible to show Helen how truly special and loved she is."
Ms Jones, who grew up in Northumberland, was evacuated to Keswick in the Lake District at the start of World War Two.
She attended Cambridge University, studied history, and became a teacher.
After her husband's death in 1970, she moved to Oxford and taught at Oxford High School, where she became deputy head.
Ms Jones volunteered at the Ashmolean Museum and often met with friends, staff, and former pupils.
She has two children, four grandsons, seven great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
Cards can be sent to Green Gates Bupa Care Home, 2 Hernes Rd, Oxford, OX2 7PT.
