A man phoned police fearing there were intruders in his home only to be reprimanded when drugs were allegedly found. 

Thames Valley Police received a call to attend a home in the Finstock area on Friday night. 

The call related to a man fearing there were intruders in his home.

But in a statement issued this afternoon, Thames Valley Police (TVP) said the officers arrived and were "met with a wiff of cannabis". 

The statement from the TVP Rural Crime Taskforce added: "There was no intruder, just a paranoid male who couldn’t handle his dope. The male was dealt with for possession of Class B." 

The maximum penalty for possessing Class B drugs is up to five years in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
