Trains running on lines through Oxfordshire may be cancelled due to short staffing, Great Western Railway (GWR) has said.

The train company released a statement today (November 24) informing passengers that a shortage of train crew between Hereford and Oxford means reduced services on some lines.

Journeys through these stations are expected to be disrupted until the end of the day, with some trains being cancelled or delayed.

Three trains scheduled for this afternoon between the two stations are currently listed as cancelled by the rail operator.

Significant disruption has also been warned for most lines to London Paddington, and customers have been advised to travel only if absolutely necessary. This is due to engineering works and crew availability.

Weather conditions due to Storm Bert are also causing cancellations due to flooding on other lines around the country.

Lines were also blocked between Reading and Basingstoke which may have had an impact on Oxfordshire passengers on Sunday morning as a result of a fallen tree during Storm Bert.

Disruption here was expected to last until 12.45pm having first being reported by GWR at 8.15am.
