Thame's Christmas Lights switch-on is set to take place in the town centre this Friday.

Hundreds are expected to attend the event on November 29, which will begin at 4pm with festive stalls.

Children can enjoy free rides from 5pm, including a helter-skelter and chair ride.

The Thame Concert Band will provide festive music, alongside performances from the Thame Players and local singer Philippa Mummery, while Santa and his elves will also be mingling with the crowd.

This year, market trader Chris Hurdman, who received the Community Award at the English Veterans Awards, will switch on the lights at 6.30pm.

Several businesses along the High Street will stay open until 7pm, and a new selfie station will be outside the town hall.

The Christmas Charities Fair will take place on Saturday, November 30, from 10am to 2pm in the town hall.

Santa's Grotto will be in the Information Centre on the same day from 10am to 4pm, with every child receiving a small gift.

A reindeer trail will lead people to nine venues, with a small gift and the chance to win one of three Christmas hampers on offer.

Children can send their letters to Santa via a special post box at Specsavers Thame and businesses and residents can decorate their windows for a chance to win a Christmas hamper.

They can upload a photo on the Window Displays page of Thame Town Council's Christmas web page to be in with a chance of winning.
