A new media suite at Abingdon and Witney College has been officially opened.

The facility in Abingdon was launched with an event attended by staff, students, and guests.

Led by Mel Coleman-Clements, head of faculty for creative industries, the suite aims to transform media education at the college.

When the college introduced the T-Level qualification in media, broadcast, and production, it recognised a need for purpose-built facilities comparable to those at its Witney Campus, leading it to set about creating the new media suite.

The TV studio is equipped with 4K cameras, an infrared tracking system for motion capture, and a green screen cove for experimenting with visual effects and CGI.

The linked control room will provide students with experience working in a multi-camera setting similar to broadcasting.

The suite will be used by media, games design, and performing arts students.

He obtained a first-class degree in media and digital practice from Portsmouth University, and embarked on a career as a videographer and photographer, which has seen him travel around the world.
