A family was asleep when a fire was started by a faulty dishwasher.
Crews from Witney Fire Station and Oxford's Rewley Road Fire Station were called to reports of a dishwasher on fire in the Oxford Hill area of Witney at 11.30pm last night (November 28).
On arrival crews were faced with a developing fire in the back kitchen of the property.
A breathing apparatus crew with a high pressure hosereel jet quickly entered the building and extinguished the fire.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fortunately on this occasion the family who were in bed at the time were alerted by their smoke detectors actuating.
"As a timely reminder going into the festive period, check your smoke alarms are in working order and try not to have appliances running when you are either out or asleep."
