An Abingdon care home is set to open its doors to the public for a week of festive events.

Albert Lodge is inviting locals for a series of Christmas-themed events running throughout the first week of December.

They will aim to combat the loneliness felt by almost 1.5 million older people during the festive season.

A mulled Christmas event is planned for Tuesday, December 3, at 2pm, followed by a Christmas party on Wednesday, December 4, at the same time.

The week will conclude with a family-friendly afternoon featuring children's activities on Saturday, December 7.

Albert Lodge will also host a seasonal soiree from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 5, where visitors can enjoy mulled wine and snacks, and interact with the home's owners.

Churchill Living, which manages Albert Lodge, will cover the cost of a taxi home for visitors who wish to enjoy a drink at the event.

Jo Ridehalgh, senior marketing executive for Churchill Living's South West division, said: "We are thrilled to be welcoming visitors to Albert Lodge for a week of festive fun.

"We hope that throughout the week, all those interested in a Churchill Living lifestyle get the opportunity to come along with friends and family to find out more and enjoy a Christmas event with our existing owners.

"We expect these events to prove popular so do get in touch and confirm your attendance."
