A crash that closed a key A-road led to a huge clean-up operation and disruption for drivers.

The A40 westbound at Witney from Barnard Gate to Ducklington was closed yesterday (December 1) due to a crash.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue were at the scene along with Thames Valley Police and Cotswold Vehicle Recovery.

Thames Valley Police confirmed this was a "damage only collision".

The road closure was visible on the AA traffic map for the majority of the day.

However, it is unknown how long the road was closed for and National Highways was contacted for more details.

Eyewitness Stu Matthewson said he was the second car on the scene yesterday morning.

"Looked like one woman had a minor arm injury from where I was sat where she was escorted into the police car to keep her safe and warm."
