An Oxfordshire town enjoyed a day of festivities as the community came together for the Christmas lights switch on and markets.

Bicester town centre was busy on Saturday (November 30) as shoppers browsed the Christmas markets before the main event - the lights switch on - in the evening.

The market event started the day at 10am, with residents enjoying a host of festive stalls selling arts and crafts, gifts, and food.

A host of activities were also on offer, including street entertainers, toddler rides, stage performances, and more from 1pm onwards.

A Christmas stage and story took place in the Market Square from 4pm, followed by the lights switched on at 6pm.

Olympic Gold medallist Kieran Bird from Bicester pushed the button to switch on the lights and despite the drizzle, spirits were high.

The day finished with Christmas carols and music in the market square until 7pm.
