The wait for the new season of your favourite TV show to drop on Netflix can be excruciating.

You've watched all the trailers, seen all the teasing behind-the-scenes pictures and binged all the previous episodes all in preparation for that all-important release date.

But when that big day finally rolls around, it's nowhere to be seen?!

This is because Netflix releases its original TV shows and movies at a specific time.

So. whether you're a sucker for Sex Education or you can't get enough of The Crown, here's what time you can expect your favourite binge-worthy show to arrive on the streaming platform.

What time do Netflix TV shows and films come out?

Netflix original TV shows and movies are typically released globally at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, according to the Netflix Media Centre.

Since we're in the UK, 12am Pacific Time works out as 8 am on this side of the Atlantic.

You can spot a Netflix original from the red “N” on the title’s artwork.

The streamer has also told its customers that it can search for "Netflix” to see them all, or they can visit netflix.com/originals.

It's important to note that some Netflix titles are originals in one country but not in another.

In that case, Netflix says that the title usually follows this schedule:

  • Title is an original in your country (has a red "N" on the title artwork): available at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time
  • Title is not an original in your country: available at 12:00 a.m. local time

The streaming giant has also shared with its users that timings can vary for episodes that are released weekly or that follow their original broadcast airing.

It added: "You may need to refresh your browser, reload the Netflix app, or restart your device and relaunch Netflix to watch a newly released title.

"Though there is no set schedule, we’re always adding new titles for our members to enjoy".
