Buchel, 35, joined the U’s on a free transfer in September 2015, after being released by AFC Bournemouth.
He made his debut in a 2-0 EFL Trophy win at home to Swindon Town the following month, and went on to feature 31 times in total during his debut campaign.
Buchel was between the posts when United lost 3-2 to Barnsley in the EFL Trophy final at Wembley, and for the 3-0 win at home to Wycombe Wanderers which clinched promotion to the third tier.
He spent time on loan at Barnet during the 2016/17 season, and left the U’s at the end of the campaign without making any appearances for United throughout the season.
Buchel has played for Liechtenstein side FC Vaduz since 2018.
