CAMERON Brannagan looks set to miss out on Oxford United’s trip to Bristol City tomorrow afternoon.

Brannagan received treatment for a knee problem following a 50/50 challenge in the 1-0 win at home to Stoke City, but after seemingly looking like he was going to continue, he hobbled away from the touchline and was replaced by Ruben Rodrigues.

United head coach Des Buckingham said: “Cam goes for another scan in London just to get a bit of a review on that, and there will be a clearer picture come Saturday or Sunday as to what that looks like.

“We’ve seen on at least two occasions that spring to mind, first at Wembley when Cam had to come off after 60 minutes, and even in the last home game where he had to come off.

“The players that come on know their jobs. They’re good players. It’s not the situation you want to find yourself in, when you’re missing one of your best players, but we have shown when we don’t have him, it’s an opportunity for those to come in and grab hold of that shirt.”

Matt Phillips is back in contention this weekend, while Przemyslaw Placheta is set to be out for another two to three weeks.

Hidde ter Avest and Kyle Edwards are also available to Buckingham, who said: “They’ve been building and working slowly, but when you haven’t got the cup games to put them into, it’s making sure when we put them into the squad or on the pitch, that they’re ready for what the Championship brings.”
